Western Conference Match Ups

  • (1) Los Angeles (57-25) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0 – Projected Winner
  • (8) Oklahoma City (50-32) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0

Regular season series (Lakers lead 3-1)
Nov 3, 2009 Los Angeles 101, Oklahoma City 98
Nov 22, 2009 Oklahoma City 85, Los Angeles 101
Dec 22, 2009 Oklahoma City 108, Los Angeles 111
Mar 26, 2010 Los Angeles 75, Oklahoma City 91

Kevin Durant is everything and more you would want in a first round draft pick and the youngest ever to win the scoring title. With that said, match ups like these are the reason I love the NBA. The Oklahoma City Thunder is an explosive young team with a lot of heart. With their style of play they give a lot of teams problems. Although this is true about OKC Thunder as much as I hate to admit it the Lakers will probably win this series. The Lakers are too talented and smart to not take care of business the first round. This series might go all seven games.

  • (2) Dallas (55-27) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0 – Projected Winner
  • (7) San Antonio (50-32) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0

Regular season series (Mavericks lead 3-1)
Nov 11, 2009 Dallas 83, San Antonio 92
Nov 18, 2009 San Antonio 94, Dallas 99
Jan 8, 2010 Dallas 112, San Antonio 103
Apr 14, 2010 San Antonio 89, Dallas 96

This is a very interesting match up, because this could be a Western Conference finals series easily any other year. With the Mavericks having the better record, and them beating the Spurs 3 to 1 in the regular season, this should be a win hands down but you never know. The Spurs are a veteran team with championship experience. They will give Dallas all they can handle and this series could go all seven games.

  • (3) Phoenix (54-28) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0 – Projected Winner
  • (6) Portland (50-32) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0

Regular season series (Trail Blazers leads 2-1)
Dec 17, 2009 Phoenix 102, Portland 105
Feb 10, 2010 Portland 108, Phoenix 101
Mar 21, 2010 Portland 87, Phoenix 93

To me this would seem like a no brainer but this season the Portland Trail Blazers have had the Phoenix Sun’s number all season. For this series I am not paying attention to the numbers. For the Suns to lose this game it would be an upset. So given the number one reason which is injury, the Trail Blazers will lose this series in six games due to Brandon Ray and his knee.

  • (4) Denver (53-29) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0
  • (5) Utah (53-29) Games remaining: 0 (0 Home, 0 Away) vs. +.500: 0, vs. West: 0 – Projected Winner

Regular season series (Nuggets lead 3-1)
Oct 28, 2009 Utah 105, Denver 114
Jan 2, 2010 Denver 105, Utah 95
Jan 17, 2010 Utah 112, Denver 119
Feb 6, 2010 Denver 106, Utah 116

This year it just seems to me that the Lakers have it easy with the playoff match ups. These are two teams that the defending champs don’t mind not seeing during the playoffs.

This four-five match up is always interesting.  This year, Utah has proven to be a very good road team which makes them very dangerous. With the injuries plaguing the Nuggets this might be a quick exit for them. No doubt Carmelo and Billups will give the Jazz all they can handle.  I see this as the only toss-up, but I think the Jazz will upset the Nuggets.
